We've partnered with surrounding communities and other mines to deliver practical, hands-on training to women and youth — building real skills for a sector that can sustain them long after the training ends.
Why community training?
The mining sector offers some of the most stable, well-paying jobs in South Africa — but access to those jobs is often limited by geography, education and opportunity. Our training programme aims to bridge that gap by giving women and youth from surrounding communities the practical skills they need to enter the sector.
Our training approach
Our community training is not a one-off CSR event — it's a structured, ongoing programme designed to create real employment pathways. We partner with community groups, local NGOs and neighbouring mines to deliver training that is practical, recognised and leads to jobs.
Practical skills, not theory
Our training is hands-on. Participants learn by doing — in the workshop, on the plant floor and in the field. This means they leave with skills they can actually use, not just certificates.

Local community organisations help identify candidates, coordinate logistics and support participants through the training process.

Non-governmental organisations help us reach women and youth who might otherwise be excluded from training opportunities.
Mrs Nancy Onwo
A social entrepreneur with 14 years in mining and processing, Nancy leads our community training work — mentoring women and youth toward sustainable businesses in the sector, with the aim of reducing poverty in the communities we operate alongside.
Nancy is currently an MSc and DBA candidate at the Roxbourg Institute of Social Entrepreneurship, Switzerland, bringing academic rigour to our community impact work.
