About Chromax

A vertically integrated chrome operation, from pit to port.

Chromax Commodities Pty Ltd is a South African mining and processing company operating under valid mining rights in the Northwest and Limpopo provinces. We mine, beneficiate and sell chrome ore and concentrate — closing the loop on waste through on-site rehabilitation.

Our story

Chromax was established to build a reliable, ethical supply of chrome products from South Africa to both domestic and international markets. From a single-pit operation, we have grown into a multi-site, vertically integrated business that mines, processes and sells chrome on our own terms.

What we do differently

Most chrome operations mine and move on. Chromax mines, processes and rehabilitates — turning what would be waste into revenue streams and keeping the land productive for future use.

Own the ground, control the product

Because we operate on our own mining rights, we control every step from extraction to delivery. We don't rely on third-party washplants or middlemen for our concentrate — it's all ours, from pit to port.

  • Direct access to ore body means better grade control
  • On-site washplant means no transport delays or extra margins
  • Consistent supply because we control our own production pipeline

Data-driven pit planning

We partner with qualified geologists and drone survey teams to map our reserves before we mine them. This means we know the depth, distribution and expected life of each pit — reducing risk and keeping production predictable.

  • Drone-based topographic and volume surveys
  • Geological assessments by partnered professionals
  • Reserve life planning so we know how long each pit can sustain production

Our operating footprint

Chromax operates across two provinces in South Africa, with mining and processing sites in the mineral-rich Northwest and Limpopo regions.

Northwest Province

Our primary mining operations are based in the Northwest Province, one of South Africa's key chrome-producing regions. The province hosts the majority of our daily ROM output and supports our largest washplant capacity.

  • Primary ROM extraction site
  • Largest washplant capacity
  • Key local buyer relationships

Limpopo Province

Our Limpopo operations complement the Northwest sites, giving us geographic diversification and access to additional ore bodies. The Limpopo site also supports our waste rehabilitation and secondary production streams.

  • Secondary ROM extraction site
  • Waste rehabilitation and secondary production
  • Additional reserve base for long-term operations
Compliance & documentation

Mining right, fully documented.

We hold a valid mining right under South African law, with the full statutory documentation required to operate, process and export chrome products.

Valid Mining Right

Full statutory documentation held under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA). All mining rights are current and compliant.

Geological Assessment

Partnered geologists assess ore depth, grade distribution and reserve life across active pits, ensuring production decisions are based on data.

Drone Survey Mapping

Ongoing drone-based topographic surveys support reserve verification, volume estimation and pit planning accuracy across our mining land.

Trained Operations Team

Yellow machine operators and washplant crews are trained and equipped specifically for chrome mining and processing operations.
